Recruit J.B. Fitzgerald, an outside linebacker from New Jersey, is going to announce on ESPNU tonight during halftime of the Louisville-Murray State game. It was originally thought that Fitzgerald would wait until later in the year to make a decision, but he's just going to pull the trigger right now rather than put it off.
ESPN says in the link above that Fitzgerald is down to Michigan, Rutgers, and Florida. I would go ahead and take Florida out of the picture and say it's really between U-M and Rutgers. I'd be pretty surprised if Michigan isn't the choice because J.B. has been said to be a lean to the Wolverines for a while now, so things are looking good right now.
If Fitzgerald does indeed pick Michigan, it would be the Maize and Blue's second linebacker commit from the state of New Jersey.
While on the subject of recruiting, Sam McGuffie, who is Michigan's prize commit, is going to open the season tonight on TV. I'm not sure if other dish services are picking it up if you're not in the Houston area, but the game should be on channel 639 on DirecTV at 8:00 p.m. ET tonight.
Talk about an all around exciting night. The college football season kicks off, Sam McGuffie takes the field as well, and Michigan may pick up another committment from a great player. All this before Michigan starts the season and the excitement is picking up already.
