Four Didn't Dress Against ASU; Changes to the Depth Chart

Four players didn't dress for the Appalachian State game over the weekend. Three were expected, but the fourth was a surprise.

No surprise that starting right guard Alex Mitchell is out, but there'd been no hints of linebacker Jonas Mouton having trouble, injury or otherwise this August. In addition to Mouton, tight end Carson Butler and defensive tackle Marques Slocum are not dressed.
Alex Mitchell was out because of an injury and hopefully can get back on the field soon. Carson Butler obviously is still working his way back into the good graces of Lloyd Carr, so again, no big news there. Marques Slocum not dressing isn't a surprise either. I'm more interested in the exact reason behind why he didn't dress. It was due to an injury or due to the whole Facebook incident. I know he was dinged up, so that'd be my guess.

The fourth, as mentioned, is unexpected. Jonas Mouton not dressing was very surprising. I've heard that he suffered an injury but I can't confirm it to be 100% true just yet. Whatever the problem is, I hope we see him back on the field Saturday because the added depth is needed.

Moving on to some other roster news, the depth chart for this weekend has been tweaked a tad. You can view the entire thing here, but the changes are at free safety and cornerback. Brandent Englemon has been moved to the starting position at FS over Stevie Brown, who really struggled against App. State. At CB, Johnny Sears has lost his starting job to true freshman Donovan Warren. Warren came in during the second half and played well against ASU, plus Sears pretty much just sucks. Hopefully he isn't a starter anymore at punt and kick returner either because that would be one less thing to have to worry about.

This last topic isn't roster related, but does sum up how all Michigan fans feel right now. Brian is declaring this "Emo Week" at MGoBlog for obvious reasons. The kittens did provide a laugh during these trying times since the loss, so thanks, Brian.
