Notre Dame's Demetrius Jones to Transfer?

Michigan fans have one less thing to worry about tomorrow: Notre Dame's fastest quarterback isn't going to be there. That QB is Demetrius Jones, who missed the team bus to Ann Arbor today. It seems like Jones didn't even give Charlie Weis prior notice before skipping the bus ride, but I don't think it'll matter as it is being reported that Jones is going to transfer.

We haven't nearly gotten anything remotely resembling a legitimate source to confirm this, but sources on several Notre Dame message boards (Rivals, Scout, and NDNation) are confirming that sophomore QB Demetrius Jones will be transferring. It's somewhat saddening as an Irish fan to see this happen, because everything I've read or heard about "DD", as he's known, is that he's a stand-up guy, a great athlete, and a charismatic leader. Unfortunately, you can only line up one guy under center, and the writing's pretty clear on the wall that young Jimmy Clausen is the wave of the future for Notre Dame.
This, as I said already, is good news for Michigan. Jones is an athletic quarterback that could've given Michigan some trouble if Weis wanted to use him in that way. I'm not saying ND would run the spread or anything like that, but just putting Jones in to run would've given Michigan problems. Luckily, that won't be a concern anymore.

UPDATE: BTW, all reports I've read have Jones transferring to NIU, plus he is already in the directory on the school's website.
