Wednesday Quick Hits: More ASU Stuff

  • Michigan is back on the cover of Sports Illustrated, but this time it isn't in a very flattering way. Maybe being the losers on the cover can help reverse the jinx we received from their preseason issue.

  • Since so many people weren't able to watch the Michigan-Appalachian State game due to it being on the Big Ten Network, it was replayed last night on Fox Sports Net. I don't know how many FSNs did replay the game, but it was on FSN Detroit and made me absolutely sick to even think about, especially after I've been reminded about it so much in the last day alone.
  • Ohio State coach Jim Tressel says that he was actually rooting for Michigan last Saturday.
  • Despite the loss to Appalachian State, Michigan is still a touchdown+ favorite for the Oregon game. The most common spread I've seen is around 8 points, which is definitely surprising considering how bad this team looked in the opener.

Maybe we can have a reverse cover jinx, we are losing on the cover so maybe in real life we win.

We need to be Oregon this week if we can do so we can start rebuilding our season one win at a time.

GO BLUE BEAT THE DUCKS!

We owe Oregon one from 2003 here's hoping Henne rebounds Hart dominates and we get some roast duck at the big house.

Maybe we can stop a scrambler in the spread for once.

On www.610wip.com radio this morning, it was confirmed that the coach of ASU used the movie INVINCIBLE staring Vince Papale to inspire his players for the Michigan game. Papale was on the air and confirmed that he had heard about it and that the ASU head coach would not return any of his calls.

In any case, I hope and pray that this game inspires Michigans players and coaches to step it up several notches for the remainder of the year. However, rest assured that some teams will see Michigan as a wounded animal and they will be ready for the kill. (Albeit that some wounded animals are even more dangerous)

It's a shame because there was a time when other teams pointed to Michigan on their schedule as THE game for their season. They would measure their success by how well they played in the Michigan game.

I am not sure what it will take to inspire this group of coaches and players. Of course UM has too much "CLASS" to refer to any of those type of antics? Too bad.

Hopefully, this year will inspire us all and give UM fans something to cheer about.
