This is what Mike Hart had to say after Michigan's 28-24 win over Michigan State on Saturday:

"I was just laughing. I thought it was funny. They got excited. It's good."

"Sometimes you get your little brother excited when you're playing basketball and you let him get the lead. Then you come back and take it from him."

When asked if he really thought of Michigan State as his little brother, Hart then said this:

"Yup. That's what they think, so that's what I think. What can I say? They think that, I'm gonna think that. They think we think that, then yeah, we think that."

There's no doubt that this quote will plastered all over the Michigan State locker room for years to come as bulletin board material, but I am fine with it. I don't necessarily like the part about how he "was just laughing," because I really doubt that was the case. However, Mike Hart feeds off trash talk and emotion like this. That's just the kind of player he is.

Like I said, I don't like the part about how he said he was laughing, and in hindsight, it probably would've been better to not say any of this at all, but it's just Mike Hart being Mike Hart. When he has something to say, he says it. As he put it today, it is what it is.

A lot of the Sparties out there are saying that he has a big mouth and everything, but when you go 4-0 against a team and perform very well in each game, you have a right to say things like he said. If Ohio State comes to Ann Arbor in 2 weeks and wins again and one of their players calls Michigan his little brother, I wouldn't be mad at all. Sure, losing again would piss me off, but comments like that are just a part of the rivalry. Ohio State would have a right to say something like that if they won again, so I would just see it as players celebrating their victory, which is what Mike Hart was doing.
