One Last Thought on Hart and Henne

With kickoff exactly 24 hours away, the availability of Mike Hart and Chad Henne, to no surprise, is still unknown. This is what should be expected considering Lloyd Carr never fills us in on the status of any injured player, so it appears we'll have to wait until game time to find out a definite answer.

I will say that I am becoming more concerned with the status of Chad Henne. Rumors have been circulating that he is out for tomorrow's game, and if that was the case, it certainly would be tougher to win as Mallett has struggled on the road. Nothing is for sure as they are just rumors, but don't be shocked if Henne isn't starting tomorrow. At the same time, don't be surprised if he is the starter, but I guess I would prepare for both scenarios.

Mike Hart, on the other hand, appears to be ready to play. He has been practicing and should be the starter tomorrow.

My understanding is Hart is close to being completely healthy and will play against the Spartans. He has been running well in practice, but obviously, practice and game-speed action are completely different. Regardless, having Hart on the field will give the Wolverines a huge emotional boost.
Obviously, if both Henne and Hart end up not playing, this game becomes much tougher to win. Of the two, I would be more concerned if Henne didn't play simply because Mallett has struggled on the road and the small mistakes he makes (I guarantee he fumbles more than once if he plays the entire game) could really give Michigan State that extra boost needed to pull off the upset.

In the end, I hope all of this worrying was for nothing, but we won't find out until tomorrow at this time. Until then, let's hope both Hart and Henne play and Go Blue!
