The effort put forth by both the team and coaches this week was just a complete joke. It didn't even seem like they cared what happened, which was especially true when they punted the ball away down two possessions and then let the clock run out. I don't care if Michigan still can win the Big Ten title next week, you play to win the game.
Even though it appeared the entire team was just going through the motions, U-M still had a chance to win the game, but Ryan Mallett's poor play prevented that from happening. The defense didn't do him any favors, but you could tell he was a true freshman more today than any other game. Sure, he made a few great throws during the game that helped get Michigan back in the game, but his mistakes overshadowed that far too much.
I'll have a recap up tomorrow and then we can move forward to the OSU game, but I'll just share my thoughts on it right now. I don't see how U-M can win this game. Is that very negative? Yes, but this team just doesn't seem like they have what it takes.

FAIRWEATHER, you should start a scarlet website
I would have preferred a Michigan win, however, even with the mistakes today I was glad to see Mallett and the other young players in the game. I believe they need to get some valuable experience under their belts this year so that they will be a step up for next year. I'd like to see this team be a legitimate contender for a national championship every year. In order for that to happen you need capable reserves with experience who can step in when needed.
I was frustrated to see a lackluster effort. I believe preparation has much to do with that. However, we all want to see a strong finish this year, and a team that is ready to come out of the gate firing next year.
Come out firing next year.....have ever covered michigan football ever in your life...they will not come out firing, not with this #$%^ing coaching staff.
A piss poor effort...infact they should have just stayed at home and #$%^ around instead of showing up and embarrassing the University!!
And you guys think they are going to beat tOSU and win a bowl game..#$%& no..not with this attitude!!
yea, i wanted the win too bad 2, but i agree..they played poorly, not so much the team, ryan mallet...everytime he plays commentators say this kid is going to be special, the guy i would compare 2 a old griese (bears)...not the michigan griese...but ya know i was dissapointed...4 real....but it dont help hart wasnt in there...cuz in the begginning they had a lil running game going im sure mike hart would have got some good yardage, henne will be close to 100% and hart seemed fine, i think were lookin at a michigan win, close...but victory will be ours....
I would have expected a better performance from Mallet. He's played enough this season to know not to make the obvious mistakes this late in teh season. You don't throw in coverage nor wing it up for grabs to avoid a sack. Besiude I thought this kid knows how to run to avoisd the sacks ? I'm looking forward to the kid coming in next year to compete against Mallet. Its one thing to have a strong arm like Mallet has.. its another to be accurate.
I'm defintinely not impressed with this kid.
Until we can get a change of coaching philosphy - this team will continue to play inconsistently week in and week out. The game has changed for how it's played today...the old school ways have become limited in continuing success from game to game. These coaches need to changes things during a game to spark a team ... Michigan hardly ever does a change. Wisconsin made us look foolish at all aspects of the game.
Are we really deserving of playing for the Big Ten championship next week ? Probably not. We are very lucky we have a shot at the title outright. I will be at the game this Saturday and we'll see how creative and determined this team can be if it's going to beat Ohio State.
